I appreciate a diversity of viewpoints and opinions. I respect community leadership for their efforts to make sound decisions. I also respect my neighbors. They’re generally well informed and interested in what’s best for their families and community. We the people, most affected by important decisions, should have a voice. Often, it feels like the people most impacted by leadership decisions do not have a seat at the table. That is why I'm choosing to support the voters making decisions about annexation for our City of Castle Pines.

It is more important than ever for the voters of the City of Castle Pines to take an active role in deciding the future of their city. Growth should be accompanied by transparent planning, meaningful public participation, responsible infrastructure decisions, and careful consideration of the potential economic impacts on existing homeowners. The question is not whether Castle Pines should grow. The question is how it should grow and its impact on the long-term value of the community.

There is a finite amount of land and water for future annexations. Currently, the Developer only has to convince 4 of the 7 City Council Members of the merits of their project. Now, they will have to convince a majority of voting Citizens. Long after the current Council is gone, we will be left in perpetuity to be responsible to deliver all services associated with annexation.

I love our Castle Pines community and care deeply about its future. Because annexation can have a lasting impact on our city and our families, I believe Castle Pines voters should have the opportunity to make that decision together.

We have lived in Castle Pines for 28 years. What originally drew us to this area was the small community full of people that knew and looked out for each other. Things of course have changed, but we’ve somehow held on to that sense of community. I’m very concerned about expanding the city limits without the voices of those who live here and who love the smaller, close community feel. And, this is why we will be voting YES on both ballot measures this November.

I support the Castle Pines Annexation Petitions. It will provide a conduit for meaningful conversation between our City leaders and residents. Input from residents on how our City functions for people that live, work and play is invaluable for our community. Collaboration between the parties will make Castle Pines a place where we can all be proud to call home.

Castle Pines is a charming, small town that provides each of its residents a sense of community and feeling of belonging. However, I believe this is being threatened because even with the newly approved Castle Pines annexation policy, our elected officials can favor developers’ interests over meaningful input from its citizens. The mayor and city councilmembers will change over time, whereas the annexation amendment is permanent, thereby allowing the citizens of Castle Pines to work in true partnership with our local representatives to make the best decisions about the future growth of our community!
Therefore, I am supporting the annexation amendments.
